StillPoint Reiki

September Newsletter 2011
Hello Everyone,

I’m sitting here listening to the rain and feeling very grateful.  I returned from Virginia and Sweat Lodge training
last Thursday and then it was off to Rachel’s wedding weekend.  I’m happy to say the wedding was beautiful and
heartfelt and can’t think of any way it could have been better. It was a day of families coming together to form a
larger circle of loved ones for the new couple as they begin their own family circle. I look forward to knowing new
acquaintances better as the years go by.
Sweat Lodge training was great! I didn’t know what to expect because I went early and had to leave early due to the
wedding.  As always, before a training such as this, the questions and issues I’m to work on, surfaced over the prior
weeks to leaving, so I had my list, I just wasn't sure how I would be working on it. I was honored to find out that
both my teachers, Trishuwa and Scott, came early too so they could work with me.  We were able to work on my list
in detail and as Spirit likes to have it, much of the training that was planned addressed my “stuff” anyway.  I spent
a couple of nights alone in the Virginia wilds before the other women came and it was time I needed to regroup,
focus, listen and allow.  It is amazing what we hear when we spend time alone in Nature.  The other women in the
training are amazing; I’ve worked with some of them already and have loved them since day one.  There were three
that I didn’t know, but it didn’t take long to know I will benefit from their presence over the next 2 years.
All in all Summer was beautiful and full of activity; as we move into October and full swing into Fall, I am preparing
for some great classes that I am fully inspired to teach and be a part of.  Enjoy the last of the harvest and get those
crops out of the soil that need to be stored! Much Love..

Fall; the East Direction
The first day of Fall was September 23rd and so here we are again, sitting in the East direction, the place of
Grandmother Grizzly, a time of retrospection. What did you dream up last Winter? What seeds did you plant this
last Spring? And how did those seeds grow this Summer? What have you done and what didn’t you do? What did
you learn? Fall is the time to go into Self and check in. It is also the direction where we take all that we learn and
sift through it, deciding what is true for us and what isn’t.  As all of Life begins to shrink back from the explosive
growth and busyness of Summer, so do we have the opportunity to go inside; literally and figuratively.  Weather
here in the NW, drives us into our homes more often, and we also have time to go inward to be with ourselves. This
doesn’t mean we go in and beat ourselves up for not accomplishing everything on our (unrealistic?) list. But more a
time to see where we’ve gotten and how we got there, or what did and did not come to fruition.  Look at these things
with curiosity and an open heart.  The East is a powerful place to come to know what’s in your heart; it is a place to
decide how you want to serve; it is the place to help you with the courage to go out and do it. So, in this early Fall as
we put our gardens to bed and prepare for winter, maybe go out and get yourself a new journal and pen and take
some special moments to be with Self. See what amazing things you have to say to yourself.

That’s Mister Arbuckle to you..

For those of you who have visited my home for class or session, you know Arbuckle; for those who did not have the
unique experience of meeting him, he is pictured above and this is in honor of his life. Mr. Arbuckle came to us in
2007; Rachel’s then boyfriend had taken him in the year before while living in Tacoma. Arbuck (one of many
nicknames) decided he wanted Reese to look after him and persisted until Reese agreed. When Rachel’s cat came
into the picture, they offered us Arbuckle.  I remember the first time I looked into the cat carrier and met his lazy
stare. “Did you sedate him?” I asked; he was sooo calm.  They laughed and said, “No, that’s just how he is.”  And
he was! He reminded me of Garfield with those stoner eyes at half mast. Well, we took him to Brad’s and he hid
under the bed for 3 days, until I went over and offered him some food. He came rushing out and scarfed down all of
it; it was love from there on out. I swear Buck (another name) understood English; when we took in a baby Robin
we had it in a box and branch on the dining table and Arbuckle kept looking at it like he thought maybe we brought
him takeout food. I told him, “Arbuckle, you can’t have this bird, do you hear me. Not this one.” He looked at me
and looked at the bird and that was that, he never bothered it. Later after the robin was outside, it even hopped up
and touch his beak to Arbuck’s nose. Arbuck just gazed through those lazy eyes. “Whatever.”  The first time I
came home from being attuned to Reiki, Arbuckle sat up and stared at me as if to say, “Yes! It’s about time!” We
were joined at the heart in that moment. I even ended up attuning him and he sat in on clients and classes alike,
often finding a nervous student and climbing in their lap would place his paws on their heart or chest.  Like most
cats, Arbuckle knew what he wanted and how to get it. For example, he KNEW he was an indoor cat and as much as
he loved to go outside and prowl around, his place was on the loveseat cuddled up on his blanket.  To get your
attention to let him in, he would rub his paws up and down on the glass door until they squeaked. We’d be doing
something and all of a sudden hear this squeaking noise… it was Arbuckle telling us it was time to come in. We
have a large stump in the middle of our bird sanctuary, with feeders hanging all around; well Arbuck would jump up
and sleep in that stump and at times the birds would just continue on eating. (Not that he wasn’t a cat, he did like
fresh food on occasion).  I could go on for pages with the stories and joy Arbuckle brought to us. He was a great
teacher with great dignity and humor. To you Mr. Arbuckle, cheers! I miss you.
