New Mexico/Arizona
I flew into Tucson and the 90+ degrees felt wonderful after weeks of soggy NW Spring weather.
It's a small airport, which I always appreciate, and the rental car van was there to pick me up in
a few short minutes. Meanwhile, I soaked up the heat and looked out over the landscape; there
were Saguaro Cati in place of the Fir trees I'd left behind. My rental turned out to be a Ford
Escape, "Yes, an SUV!" and I headed for my motel.
The next day I hopped on Hwy 10 and headed
East toward New Mexico. I stopped at Colossal Caves and took the tour; it lasted about an hour
and it was huge, at least to my standards. It was great just driving; the speed limit was 75! and for
those who have driven with me... anyway.  The temperature was rising into the 80s and the music
was playing on the radio. I spent the day stopping where ever I wanted and exploring. Slowly day to
day living shed from me layer by layer.
By the time I arrived in Silver City it was
early evening, so I got my room and went
to have dinner. Silver City is a wonderful
little town full of artists and galleries,
bikers and bars, open space and freedom.
I ate at one of the original haunts and slept
in the Palace Hotel, also an original. The
next morning it was off to meet the other
six women that I would share five days of
camping and sharing...sharing what, I
wasn't sure. Once we all gathered, we
piled into one Ford pick-up, leaving our
rentals behind, and bounced between the
canyon walls, crossing the river seven times before we came to our resting place. There were some
of the most beautiful cliffs and canyons I'd seen, and we had the river to swim in, and even a lovely
house to cook and eat our meals in. The week consisted of time out in the wild, intuitive work,
teaching, inner work, plant identification and gathering, meditation, ceremony, journeying, and yes,
sharing... of heart and soul, sorrow and joy. I know this is vague, and that is normal when
explaining sacred experience. You just have to do it for yourself. We parted sisters and with tears;
some of us to continue a relationship, others never to see again. Either way, each one of those
women mean a great deal to me and made a difference in my life. I spent the next few days making
my way back to Tucson, staying a day in Silver City spending way too much money on way too
cool of items! I also went to the Chiricahua National Park..... go there! That is all I can say.
Went to Tombstone and visited with great folks living a fun and
happy lifestyle; I even ate lunch at Big Nose Kate's Saloon. For
those who don't know her, she was famous for running a brothel
and for being the girlfriend of Doc Holiday.
