StillPoint Reiki
and Shamanic Healing
A Most Amazing Experience
The little Grosbeak kept closing her eyes to rest - thank you Reiki - and then
she would perk up and look around. I knew she hadn't broke her neck, and
from what I could tell, nothing else was broken either. However, she just sat in
my hand going in and out of sleepiness; a concussion perhaps? After another
ten minutes or so, I noticed I was feeling restless, thinking of all the things I
had to do that day and secretly wishing the little Grosbeak would just fly
away, "all better."
Well of course I wanted her to get better, but here I was beak to beak with one
of Mother Earth's wild creatures, and I wanted to get back to my all
important list of to -dos! I took a deep breath and relaxed into the moment
and thought about how being in the moment is part of Reiki, is a part of what
I am trying to achieve more often than just when convenient. I looked at the
bird and started telling her about my silliness, about being human. She looked
straight at me and warbled deep in her throat (was it a chuckle?). We
continued to chat, me telling her how beautiful she was and she, warbling. We
stood there together for at least an hour; the other birds getting impatient for
their bird feeders started flying in closer.
The Grosbeak continued to close her eyes and rest, only to be awakened by a
movement or sound. I truly didn't care how long we stayed there, it was a
blessing to be so close to such an incredible creature. Eventually, she sat up on
the palm of my hand and hopped onto my arm; next she jumped/flew onto a
low branch near a feeder. She stayed there for a couple of hours. I kept an eye
on her and worried that maybe something internal was wrong. I went up to
her talking softly and reached out to her; she stepped onto my finger and sat
there for awhile. Then she took off and flew high into a tree. She stayed there
for most of the rest of the day and by the time it was getting dark, she took
flight with some of her buddies.
Nowadays, I have to wonder if any of the many Grosbeaks that visit our
feeders, is my beautiful little friend. Thank you for the lesson of being in the
moment.
